Eine Kleine Nachtmusik (A Little Night Music)

I Allegro, II Romanze: Andante, III Menuetto: Allegretto, IV Rondo: Allegro

By London Mozart Players

Although Mozart’s Eine kleine Nachtmusik is one of the most frequently played works in the classical repertoire, we know very little about it. Mozart wrote other serenades with such titles as ‘Nachtmusik’, ‘Notturno’ and ‘Serenata Notturna’, and they all have their known history, but what caused him suddenly to interrupt work on his opera ‘Don Giovanni’ and compose his ‘kleine Nachtmusik’ is a mystery. Published posthumously, this ‘little serenade’ is one of Mozart’s best-loved compositions, and it is widely performed and recorded.

This concert performance by the London Mozart Players was recorded at the church of St Martin in the Fields, London, on 30th August 2018.
