Η Έφη Δαλακμάνη γεννήθηκε και μεγάλωσε σε μια μικρή κωμόπολη κοντά στη Θεσσαλονίκη, όπου και διαμένει. Είναι προπτυχιακή φοιτήτρια Αγγλικής Γλώσσας και Φιλολογίας στο Αριστοτέλειο Πανεπιστήμιο. Η υπέρμετρη αγάπη της για την μουσική και τη λογοτεχνία την οδήγησε τελικά στο δρόμο της συγγραφής. Τα «Σήματα Καπνού» είναι η πρώτη ποιητική της συλλογή στην αγγλική γλώσσα.
